Christmas in Cochin

Some days before Christmas we arrived in Cochin. Besides eating the delicious food, we spent time in the city and also went shopping. We visited the synagogue as well as the street market in the Jewish Quarter and also saw the area called Fort Cochin with its Chinese fisher nets. Afterward, we relaxed for some time in the beautiful Kashi art café and enjoyed some moments in a St. Cruz Basilica. In the latter, the kid’s choir was rehearsing for the Christmas Mass. In the evening I got finally my hair cut. It was challenging to explain the European style to the hairdresser, but with Maju’s translation, I finally got my hair nicely cut.

On Christmas Eve we went shopping in the forenoon and relaxed in the afternoon. In the evening, before going to mass, we had a delicious vegetarian dinner in the neighboring hotel. Around 11 pm we went with the car to a Syro-Malabarian Catholic Church to attend the Christmas Mass, which was held in Malayalam.
