Munnar

For the first time on this holiday, we were traveling alone. A driver took us from Maju’s home to the mountains. The 150 km in the car were very nice, even though the driver could only speak a little English. However, we managed to communicate :) On the way, we were listening to Hindi and Malayalam songs, saw monkeys and a beautiful waterfall and stopped at a friends place for chaya and Blackforest cake. After an (in total) six hours ride we arrived in the Deep Forest Resort Munnar. The moment we opened the door of the car we realized that we are in the mountains – it was fresh. Unfortunately, it was dark, and we spent the first night without seeing where we actually arrived.

All this changed with the next morning as we woke up in another paradise! This resort has pure nature all around, and for the first time in this holidays, we experienced silence. What a contrast to the city life! Around noon Raghu, Geethu and her family arrived. We met all, accept Raghu, for the first time. Still, it did not take even a moment, and it felt like we knew each other for long! In the afternoon some of us we went out for a walk into the tea estates. Our walk was limited in time as it is dangerous to stay outside after 6 p.m. During dusk, it is very likely that one meets wild elephants and leopards in the tea estates. The next day we spent in the unbelievable beautiful Eravikulam National Park, where we could see the Nilgiri Thar and got a grandiose view of the tea estates from above.
