Today’s bicycle tour started with a train ride to Leobersdorf. From there we went into Triestingtal towards Berndorf. Some kilometers ahead we made a turn towards North to go a little uphill. Around noon we reached Heiligenkreuz monastery. There we relaxed for a while in the shadow of huge plane trees. Afterward, we had a small lunch and – of course – a beer at the monastery tavern. In Heiligenkreuz they serve Schlägl beer so you cannot leave from there without having at least one ;)
Strengthened from food and beer we started into Helenental, which lead us towards Baden. In this hot weather, the fresh woods of Helenental are a fantastic place for riding your bike. Also, river Schwechat is good for one or another stopover. However, for the last kilometers, we had to go back into the heat, as we went back home along Eurovelo 9 cycle track.
