Bicycle tour March – Danube – Leitha

We are fascinated by riding our bikes. No wonder that we made another tour this weekend. This time we started in Marchegg.

For the first kilometers, we followed the river March on the Austrian side of the border. In Schlosshof, we crossed the river to the Slovakian town Devínska Nová Ves. From there, we headed further south towards until reaching Devín Castle. This time, we were lucky with the temperature. It was nicely warm, but not hot as last time. Therefore, we decided to visit the castle. Our desition was rewarded with a great view on river March joining the Danube. No wonder that this place is also a favorite place for couples taking their wedding photos.

After a nice lunch break, we followed the river Danube downstream towards Bratislava. However, as we were in the city some weeks ago, we did not revisit it. We crossed the Danube shortly before entering the city center. On the other side of the stream, we went upstream all the way towards Hainburg. From there, our track deviated from the Danube cycling track towards the south. After a short while, we passed by Rohrau (birthplace of Joseph Haydn). From there we went towards Bruck/Leitha to bridge some kilometers distance to Himberg by train.

On the final kilometers, our cycling efforts were granted with a magnificent sunset :)
